Aegis Metal Framing just participated in the Cold Formed Steel Framing Institute’s (CFSEI) Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Atlanta. We were pleased to be an official partner/sponsor of this year’s gathering and were pleasantly surprised by the relatively strong attendance, given the current state of the construction market. CFSEI is a strong technical advocate for our industry, and the quality of their tech notes and other documents is first rate.
Attended several good seminars on mid-rise design, BIM, LEED and truss design. A lot of good information was offered. With regard to BIM, this is definitely the future of building design, but still LOTS of gaps in the process. Should Revit become the BIM software of choice (and it most likely will) there will need to be reasonably straight forward exchange file format to facilitate the passing back and forth of models and information from the hundreds if not thousands of third party software packages out there.
Aegis encourages its fabricator partners to become active in their regional CFSEI chapters. The meetings are a great networking opportunity to meet other influential participants in our industry.
